Course Tour

Cree Meadows is a Ruidoso golf facility that is open to the public, offers low local daily fee rates plus has a variety of attractive memberships available. The superbly maintained golf course is both demanding and scenic. This outstanding golf links features narrow tree lined fairways and quick, gently sloped greens. The many mature pines and several holes featuring water in play, are only a few of the noteworthy features found on this course. The signature hole is 17, a 140 yard par 3 requiring a tee shot over water to a small elevated green. The terrain is easy to walk, making it a pleasure for everyone to play the course. Be forewarned that playing conditions are most always challenging for all skill levels, such is the nature of Ruidoso golf.

 Sharp dog left par 4 which is the hardest hole on the course. Ideal tee shot is just past the tree in the middle of fairway on the corner of dogleg. Favor left side of that tree because balls tend to kick to the right. Approach shot to an elevated green which any shot short of will roll to the bottom of hill. Tee shot needs to stay clear of big tree that guards green. Too close to tree and then will have to go under or around tree.

 Straight slight downhill par 4. Tee shot needs to favor right side of tree before fairway starts. Anything directly at that tree or left of it will be in danger of going OB. Approach shot has to be short, OB just 5-10 yards over green.

 Straight downhill par 4 with tee shot favoring left side of fairway. One of two wide open holes where OB is not as accessible. Bail out is left with not much trouble. Approach shot is slightly downhill with miss being short of green. Ball will tend to roll out towards the back of green.

 Uphill par 4 that plays the longest of any par 4 on the course. Dry hazards on the left so bail out is right. Any tee shot right side of fairway will roll right of cart path but still be safe from any trouble. Straight forward green with no protection. Middle of green is the smart play.

 Long sharp dogleg left par 5. Tees shot all depending how much of the dog leg you want to cut off. Anything right is in danger of being blocked out by poplars. OB begins at maintenance building. Favor left side of fairway and take off 20-25 yards to compensate for roll out to hazard. Middle of the green is a smart play.

 Tight, real short, straightforward par 4. OB comes in tight on both sides with fairway. Ideal tee shot favors left side of fairway. Anything right kicks towards OB.  A short straight away par 5 guarded by trees on the left hand side and middle of tee box. Tee shot sets the golfer up towards OB to the right. Ideal tee shot is a slight draw around tree on the left. Second shot has to be far enough where trees are not obstructing approach shot. Anything short or right is not a bad miss. Anything left of green goes down the hill.

 Finishing hole dogleg right par 4 where ideal tee shot is favoring left side of fairway. The perception is to cut off dogleg corner for shorter shot but the hole quickly straightens out. OB comes in from the right just right of cart path. Approach shot has to be underneath hole. Green slopes from back to front.
